to "Chapter 2: What Type of Driver are You?"
“It is confidence in our bodies, minds
and spirits that allows us to keep looking for new adventures”
- Oprah Winfrey
You’ve now got
a good understanding of the five main types of drivers you can resemble, as you
move through life. At the end of the last chapter, we left off making an
agreement that from here on out, you will be the Confident Driver down the
Roads of Life. Without worrying about how that will happen, do you
believe for now that it can happen? Believe that, continue reading and
we can work together. Reading any book is a commitment, and so is deciding to
take control of your life. By committing to that you are entering an agreement
with yourself. Are you ready to honour that agreement?
Then let’s get
started.
What
Does a Confident Driver Do?
Or…
“How to live your life that will boost your
confidence.”
In beginning to
understand who The Confident Driver is and how you can be one too, it helps to
know how they live life in general. To keep this simple for you, I’ve narrowed
it down into four key behaviours.
Ø They
Prepare
Any plan is better than no plan at all,
but as life throws you surprises, twists and turns, even the best made plans
don’t always work. In saying that, get used to having to rethink or redo your
plans completely when things change, but keep your eyes on the prize.
Ø
They
are Self-Motivated
You are the only person who is with you for every single second of every single day. At times, you will be on your own in a challenging situation and if that external motivation is not available, you must dig deep and find the motivation within. This is what Confident Drivers do so well; they thrive in situations that are positive and are working well, but they can also pick themselves back up again when things are not going so great.
Ø
They
are Observant
They give their time, energy and attention
to whatever they’re doing and wherever they are at the time. They are in the
moment, watching and listening to the things around them, ready to act in a
moment notice and making the most of the current situation.
Ø
They
are Intuitive and Tactful
Following on from their ability to be good
observers, a Confident Driver is also very in tune with themselves and acts in
accordance to what they are thinking; they have great self-awareness and are
skilled in being conscious of their own thoughts and feelings, with the ability
to manage them well.
What
a Confident Driver Doesn’t Do
Or…
“How to live a life that won’t boost your
confidence.”
Ø
They
don’t make the same mistakes over and over
Confident people make mistakes just like
everyone else, even if they don’t appear to. Quite often, they make more
mistakes than anyone else. So why are they usually so successful and happy?
Because they learn from their
mistakes.
Ø
They
don’t waste their time
Confident people value almost everything
about themselves and their life, and they especially value their time. Notice
how a confident person is usually busy, with things to do and places to go?
Because The Confident Driver takes their time seriously.
Ø
They
don’t set overly difficult and unreasonable goals
Confident people are usually high achievers and have a lot of good things in their life; they can be popular, smart, talented, easy to talk to, creative and good at motivating other people. Although this appears to be a natural quality, it comes from setting goals. And setting the SMARTEST type of goals…
Ø They
don’t lie to themselves and others
Confident people are likable, approachable
and respected by many because they carry one of the most important values in
life with them. Wherever they go and whatever they do, they strive for honesty
and truth.
How
to become a Confident Driver
Or…
“The steps you can consistently follow to become more and
more confident.”
You can’t
become a Confident Driver overnight. It takes practice, time and learning. By
thinking about the four main things a Confident Driver does do compared
to the four main things they don’t do, how could you go about applying
those behaviours to yourself?
Here’s the four
tips below, but the details of which won’t be shared here. You’ll have to read
the book 😉
1. Take some
Lessons
2. Follow the rules
3. Notice the signs
4. Get focused
