“Our identity is
affected less and less by what we produce and more and more by what we become”
– Pete Sanders
Take
the Test!
Or…
“Review how you currently live your life.”
As the first
chapter explained, the way we live our life and drive a car is very similar.
It’s something we tend to do automatically, without much thought as to why we
do it our way. It comes from our view of the world around us, and the influence
of our past. Anything you do that is done just because “That’s how I’ve always
done it” is what we call a Learned behaviour.
When you read
the fully-published version of “Life is a Road”, you will be able to take a
test that helps you identify what type of driver you might be at the moment.
You won’t find the quiz in these sample chapters, but here’s a few questions
from that quiz to get you thinking a little…
When it comes to making big, important
decisions about your life, how do you tend to handle them most of the time?
When you find you’ve made a mistake or
failed in some way, how do you find you usually respond?
When you are trying to get what you
want, what is the most common way you can treat others around you?
Your
Driving Score
Or…
“Understanding Why you are that type of driver.”
In Chapter1: The Way We Drive, you were briefly introduced to something called your
“Map of the World”.
Basically, your
Map of the World is made up of your past experiences, current situation and
fears and dreams for the future. And you use your map like a guide through
life. In relation to your behaviours from the past, they come from your
actions, and at times, we’ve all acted in both positive and negative ways. Any
action, repeated enough times, forms a behaviour. Act negatively a bunch of
times, and a negative behaviour is formed. The same goes for positive actions
done regularly; a positive behaviour is formed.
Would you say
you are more focused on your past, or more focused on your future?
For most
people, it’s one or the other. If your past is filled with most of the
experiences that have defined you, then you will think about your past often.
But if we haven’t had the number of experiences we crave yet, then we might
focus more on the future and dream about the life we could have.
Are you afraid
of the future, because it is filled with uncertainty and doubt? Or are you
optimistic about the future, and see it filled with possibility and opportunity?
Whatever way you see your future, that’s how it tends to turn out. Because your
future is not written yet. No one’s is. Your future is whatever you want it to
be. And a big influence on our future is where we’ve come from and where we are
now. But see how I used the word influence, and not determinant?
Accept
Your Score or Test Again?
Or…
“Now you have a choice to make.”
When you read
the book, you will be invited to take the test again, or just accept your
driver type and move forward. But realise whatever type of driver you might be
right now, it’s never permanent. You can be any type of driver you want to be,
if you decide to make that change.
Everyone is capable
of change, even if not everyone is willing to change. If you’re willing,
then you’re halfway there. Do you want to change the way you go through life
and handle challenges? If you’re not completely satisfied with how you’ve been
responding to change up until now, here’s your way forward. I can show you the
way to be capable of change as you continue reading.
So, are you
ready and willing to be The Confident
Driver in Life?
I’m expecting
your answers is Yes. Great!
Let me show you how.
